C+ communication channel for comments now, for Life's interaction with Earth's Crust after G+ has discontinued, or for posting Gmail addresses.

Life augments and changes the crust, by transfer of cations to organic compounds from black basalts to many-colored growths. Less dense organisms have greater thickness for the same mass (less Density), and slowly- through geologic Time- increase crust's thickness- as with the wildflowers shown below:
Golden paintbrush is rare (usually red in Texas), but thrives on Mima Mounds in Whidbey Island.

Those wanting to leave a message or request, may place it at the end by scrolling down to the bottom, or you may leave your Gmail below- to which I will respond. Trolls or obnoxious statements will cause this space to be put in Draft. Name, country, and message must be in English:

Mounds are not slways small; below are erosional remnants at Hurricane, Utah:

Hawaii's black basaltic beach sands on the big island are transformed to sand-colored by reef growths, as heavy cations-K, Mg, and Ca- are incorporated into light-colored corals and living organisms:
One million years prior, Mauna Loa arose, and it now appears as below:
Closer to home, the Pah Tempe hot spring has been cooled by man's activity; putting a diversion dam upstream caused the temperature to decrease with the added mass and opening of the crust upstream; thickness increase and offsetting fractures have cooled the waters:

Google Earth view shows the present Pah Tempe location:
10,000 year or younger Veyo volcanodiscovery.com lies north of St. George, Utah and is shown below to note that nearby Hot Springs indicate continuous activity (scraping of the Crust by the Mantle top rotating at a different rate than that of sedimentary deposits above):
Enlarged Google Earth view of Veyo basalt cone (refer to an arc or white edge):
What does Veyo and other nearby extrusions have to do with life? A better question is: Why do many basaltic exrusions occur near the Hurricane fault- Hf? These are working westward after Hf rose (slickensides show that it's still rising:
Wasatch front is a forerunner of Hf (Wf older) and nearly North of it. Slickensides (above) there would have been influenced by life other than man. Earth's crust is moved upwardly by an imbalance between the less dense Colorado plateau Cp, compared to the many basalts in the Basin and Range BaR:
Large Google Earth view as I drove through Nevada; it developed with Reverse tides after the 16 m.y. Columbia flood basalts and 13.6 movement to Yellowstone extrusions:
